Developing a Sustainable Path Toward Expanded Lithium Processing
Elipse International is preparing the next phase of development for its Bali Lithium Project in Taraba State, building on operations that commenced in 2021.
The company’s development strategy is designed around a staged transition from selective production toward larger-scale mineral processing and beneficiation.
The proposed programme targets an eventual production capacity of approximately 4,000 tonnes per day, compared with the project’s previous operating capacity of approximately 1,500–2,000 tonnes per day.
During the initial stage, Elipse intends to implement a Transitional Production and Capital Formation Programme. This phase is designed to generate operating capital while preparing the project for the introduction of a dedicated flotation and beneficiation facility.
The long-term objective is to reduce reliance on the sale of selectively sorted ore and establish greater processing capability closer to the mine.
This approach reflects a broader shift taking place across Africa’s mining industry: mineral-producing countries increasingly seek to retain more value through local processing, technical development and downstream participation.
For Elipse, the Bali expansion programme is intended to create a more efficient, scalable and sustainable lithium operation while supporting employment, community development and local economic participation.
